Finished Christmas patchwork quilt hanging in a sewing studio after being quilted on a longarm machine

She Finished It — Margaret’s Christmas Quilt (Part 2)

April 30, 20261 min read

There’s a moment at the end of a quilt…

when it comes off the frame, the binding is stitched down, and it finally becomes something you can hold.

This is that moment for Margaret’s Christmas quilt.

Margaret made this quilt at my Eryri retreat this year, which was held close to Conwy.

But last year, she was too unwell to sew at all.

So this isn’t just about finishing a quilt.

It’s about coming back.

Coming back to something familiar.

Coming back to something steady.

Coming back to a part of yourself that had been put on hold.

If you haven’t seen the first part of her story, you can read about it here:

After I stitched the binding on and saw it hanging in the studio, it felt like a quiet reminder…

It doesn’t have to be all at once.

It can be slow.

It can be gentle.

It can be one small step at a time.

It can be fun!

That’s something I see again and again — at retreats, in lessons, and inside Patchwork Play.

Women finding their way back to sewing, without pressure.

If you’ve been feeling that pull yourself, you’re not on your own.

And you don’t have to figure it out on your own either. Because you are not alone in this.

Patchwork Play is a calm, supportive online space where you can start again — just small, steady stitching alongside others doing the same.

You’d be very welcome there.
